Artist Kathy Stanton has a background in art and design. Graduating from the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Architecture, and Art lead to becoming a graphic designer with Herman Miller, Inc.. 

At Herman Miller, much of Kathy's design work was more technical or information design but she took over designing Herm Miller Picnic Posters after Steve Frykholm retired from designing the posters. Her series of 11 posters is in the permanent collection at the Henry Ford Museum and two are in the Library of Congress.

Kathy joined friends at Oxbow to take painting classes from successful local artist Dawn Stafford. She started painting West Michigan landscapes up north, which lead to taking photos of the landscape, which lead to collecting stones and beach glass. As a result she now paints, works in digital media with her photos, and uses the stones and beach glass to produce jewelry.
