Stanton's work is mostly painted in oils but occasionally she will work in acrylics or tempra paint. Her subject can be the Michigan landscape or fantasy images emerging from the imagination.

Some of the prints are derived from  photos of the Michigan landscape. Some of the prints began as tempra paintings, scanned and manipulated on the computer. Still others are ink drawn doodles of birds or animals.

While painting on Lake Michigan beaches, Kathy began collecting stones and beach glass. She began to create necklaces, earrings, and bracelets from the stones and pieces of glass or pottery.
